Have you ever paid attention to how much communication happens through your face? With a simple facial expression, you can communicate joy, sadness, fear, or any other feeling you might be experiencing.
This happens because your face is intimately connected to your entire energy system. Therefore, the energy and emotions in your body will radiate throughout your face. However, this process can also happen in reverse…
By working skillfully with your face, you can influence your entire energy system. In Chinese Medicine, such practices are known as Acupressure Facelift because they transform and circulate the energy in your face. In doing so, these exercises help rejuvenate and beautify your face, empowering you to look and feel your best. Unlike other facial treatments such as botox or plastic surgery, Acupressure Facelift practices have no negative side effects.
In this blog, you’ll learn about some of the benefits that Acupressure Facelift offers. You’ll also discover a powerful six-minute Acupressure Facelift routine that you can try for yourself.
Acupressure Facelift practices rejuvenate your face in a natural and healthy way. In fact, it’s often referred to as “Beautiful Face Qi Gong.” Not only does this help beautify your skin, but it also helps invigorate your entire energy system.
Acupressure Facelift increases the circulation of energy in your face and head, which helps release tension and stress. If you’ve ever paid attention to how your face looks when you’re stressed, you’ve noticed that it’s scrunched and tense. By learning how to relax your facial muscles, you’re able to let go of both physical and energetic tension stored in your face.
Additionally, Acupressure Facelift practices help improve clarity of thought. When energy moves easily through your face and head, you’re able to think deeply and maintain your focus more easily.
The benefits of Acupressure Facelift aren’t limited to just your face and head. By releasing tension and rejuvenating your energy, you’re able to move those qualities downward. This means that your entire body is nourished by the vitality that you cultivate through Acupressure Facelift practices.
The six-minute routine below allows you to get a small taste of this simple yet powerful ancient practice. We’ve provided this practice both in a video as well as in written instructions.
To begin this practice, sit upright in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Take a couple of deep breaths and relax your body.
When you’re ready, bring your fingers to your temples and massage them gently by making small circles. This point on your body is known as Taiyang and is great for activating your energy.
After a minute or so, move your hands upward and place the knuckle of each hand on the top of your eyebrows. Then, move each of your knuckles outward towards your temple. Once your knuckles reach your temple, bring them back to the point above your eyebrows and repeat the movement.
As you do this movement, apply a bit of pressure, so you stimulate the points directly above your eyes. Feel your knuckles smoothing any wrinkles and cleansing your skin.
Next, bring your knuckles beneath your eyes and do the same movement. Move each knuckle outward until it reaches your temple. Then, bring your knuckle back to the point beneath your eyes and repeat that movement.
As you move your knuckles across your face, feel the energy in your skin come alive. These movements are wonderful for rejuvenating the Qi within your skin cells.
Now, place your middle fingers on either side of your nose and move them up and down. Feel the energy in that part of your face become activated. Continue moving your middle fingers up and down for thirty to sixty seconds.
This is a great exercise for your sinuses, so keep it in mind for the next time you experience sinus congestion or allergies.
Next, start to tap your cheekbones lightly with the tips of your fingers. Move your hands around your cheeks so you’re tapping at various points.
While still tapping, move your fingers upward and tap gently on your forehead and mid-eye and then to the sides of your head. As you tap into different places, feel the energy in your skin become invigorated.
Continue tapping for a minute or two and pay attention to how you feel. You may feel a slight tingling across your face.
Once you’ve tapped your fingers around your entire face, bring your hands in front of you and let your palms face your eyes. Take a couple of breaths and envision that your palms are directing Qi into your face. Imagine that rich, nourishing energy is passing through you and calming your mind and body.
When you’re ready, bring your hands to your side, smile to yourself, and take that feeling with you for the rest of your day.
